The French 75
was huge WWI artillery gun that packed a wallop. According to cocktail lore, a Franco American fighter
pilot who was in need of a little kick in his bubbly to bolster his bravery, mixed cognac with his
champagne and Viola The French 75 Champagne Cocktail was born.
The L&E French 75 is made with Marie Framboise, a cognac distilled with raspberry juice and it is
finished with a lemon twist.

75 is also the first two numbers of the postal codes for each of the arrondisments of Paris.
Thus, at Restaurant L&E, we also recommend the cocktail, as a panacea to subdue the longing that
comes with a desire to traipse through the streets of Paris, dining and imbibing, from the Louvre to
Ménilmontant or from 75001 to 75021 and back again.
